Automated Parameter Studies Using a Cartesian Method
نویسندگان
چکیده
A modular process for performing general parametric studies about an aerodynamic configuration using a Cartesian method is described. A novel part of this process is the automatic handling of general control surfaces deflections based upon simple, userspecified inputs. The article focuses on the use of aerodynamic databases in the design process. Database fly-through is used to develop and analyze guidance and control systems, and to evaluate performance data. Validation comparisons with experimental data and Navier-Stokes simulations are presented for the Langley Glide-Back Booster vehicle. Two example parametric databases with control surfaces deflections are presented: an autonomous Mars explorer aircraft which contains 4700 datapoints and two movable elevons, and the Space Shuttle launch vehicle in ascent configuration with gimbaling engine nozzles. The database for the Mars aircraft has been used to validate a generic neural-network control system, and trajectory simulations using the shuttle aerodynamic data are coupled with an optimization algorithm to develop a closed-loop feedback pitch controller. ∗Senior Research Scientist, [email protected] †Research Scientist, [email protected] ‡NRC Research Associate, [email protected]

Validation of Inlet and Exhaust Boundary Conditions for a Cartesian Method
Inlets and exhaust nozzles are often omitted in aerodynamic simulations of aircraft due to the complexities involved in the modeling of engine details and flow physics. However, the omission is often improper since inlet or plume flows may have a substantial effect on vehicle aerodynamics. A method for modeling the effect of inlets and exhaust plumes using boundary conditions within an inviscid...
متن کاملA full NT-step O(n) infeasible interior-point method for Cartesian P_*(k) –HLCP over symmetric cones using exponential convexity
In this paper, by using the exponential convexity property of a barrier function, we propose an infeasible interior-point method for Cartesian P_*(k) horizontal linear complementarity problem over symmetric cones. The method uses Nesterov and Todd full steps, and we prove that the proposed algorithm is well define. The iteration bound coincides with the currently best iteration bound for the Ca...

Estimating the volume of groundwater contribution to runoff within a watershed is one of the most important subjects in water resources management and hydrology. In this paper, groundwater contribution to total runoff as a base flow index was estimated using hydrograph separation in six stream gauging stations in southwest of Iran. The major objective of this research is to distinguish the most...
متن کاملAutomated theorem proving for elementary geometry
Thesis: Automated theorem proving for elementary geometry. This study analyses automated proofs of theorems from Euclidean Elements , book VI, using the area method. The theorems we will be discussing concern Euclidean field theory about equality of non-congruent figures and similarity of the figures [1]. The proofs are generated by the program WinGCLC. My proposed hypothesizes: 1. The way of m...
